“Each day is a process, each day is a journey.”
-Anne Wilson Schaef

One of the ways you can help yourself for good is to change how you see yourself. Now is the time to think about what you want to change in your life. The images of yourself may be linked to comments from other people. Valued people in our lives can greatly affect how we see ourselves.

Now is the time to start working on a new, stronger image of yourself. What can you do?

  • Achieve one of your goals from the previous list you made of doing something of value for someone.
  • Each time someone offers you a drink, remember to say out loud, "No thanks.”
  • Every time you have the chance to say you no, you will build a stronger image of yourself. It does feel better than you may think.
  • Think about those you may have disappointed or upset while drinking and the fact that those relationships will improve.

Another good way to build your image is to start watching other peers that you respect. When you are in a situation where you would have drank in the past, see how that person acts. What do they do in social party situations? Ask others you know that may have quit how they deal with social and party life.
