Spiritual Well-Being

If you’re looking to explore your personal spirituality, there’s no place like Notre Dame.

Your spirit is the deepest part of you: the part that seeks meaning, a sense of purpose, and a sense of identity. Your spirituality is a combination of your religious faith, your values, and your moral principles. To be spiritually well is to live with compassion toward others, to live ethically, to give, and to appreciate the depth of life.

From a robust Campus Ministry program to Mindfulness training and yoga, you’ll find numerous ways to stay spiritually well at Notre Dame.

Walk with Others

Although Notre Dame is rooted in the Catholic tradition and inspired by the charism and spirituality of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Campus Ministry welcomes all faiths to campus with open arms.  Learn more about what Campus Ministry has to offer at Notre Dame.

Regardless of your faith, you’ll find opportunities to enhance your spiritual well-being. For example, you might:

  • Spend time in the spiritual spaces around campus: the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the Grotto, or your residence hall’s chapel
  • Attend a spiritual retreat
  • Lend your talents to the Basilica choirs or various campus music ensembles
  • Join a small fellowship group and connect with other students

Be Present

Mindfulness is being aware of your body, your thoughts, your feelings, and the world around you. Mindfulness is about being in the moment.  The more mindful you are, the easier it is to balance the many aspects that affect your overall well-being.

That’s why we offer resources and information to help you stay balanced and in the moment. Follow McWell on social media or visit the Stress Services page for updated information on current mindfulness programming.

Try Yoga

By combining spiritual, physical, and mental aspects of wellness, yoga has been documented to have numerous health benefits.

If you’re interested in trying yoga for the first time—or re-establishing a regular yoga routine—sign up for one of multiple yoga classes offered through RecSports.  Or join McWell and RecSports as they host Glow Yoga on Thursday nights in the fall.
