Nurturing Friendships

"Good friends are like stars."

With this week of Spring Break & Beyond focusing on "Being a Friend" and social well-being, we thought we'd share some info about how to nurture your friendships.  Here are some helpful tips, presented by the Mayo Clinic:

Be Kind. It may sound simple, but this basic behavior is a huge contributor to successful, healthy relationships.

Listen Up. Ask what's going on in your friends' lives and be an active listener.

Open Up. You can deepen friendship bonds when you share your personal experiences.

Show that you can be trusted. Being responsible, reliable and dependable is key to forming strong friendships.

Make yourself available. Make an effort to see your friends regularly, and to check in with them in between meet-ups.

Have questions about your relationships? Our friends at the Gender Relations Center and Multicultural Student Programs and Services have great services to offer!
