Happiness
“Different people seek after happiness in different ways and by different means, and so make for themselves different modes of life..." - Aristotle
More than the fleeting feelings of temporal joy, happiness is a positive emotion many of us strive for in our daily lives. An overall feeling of well-being accompanies happiness, benefitting us physically, spiritually, and emotionally. In The How of Happiness, Sonja Lyubomirsky points to 11 activities that help build happiness:
- Expressing gratitude
- Cultivating optimism
- Avoiding overthinking
- Practicing acts of kindness
- Nurturing social relationships
- Developing strategies for coping
- Learning to forgive
- Increasing flow experiences
- Savoring life’s joys
- Practicing religion and spirituality
- Taking care of your body
